“About 100 residents held a protest last night outside Haringey council offices over the decision to appoint Australian firm Lendlease as the preferred bidder to take joint control of public assets. The Labour-run authority would retain a 50 per cent stake and insist they will remain in the “driving seat” and will reinvest their share of profits back into the borough…
…Haringey’s council cabinet has already approved the plans, but the council’s scrutiny committee met for a record five hours last night and decided just before midnight to send the decision back to the cabinet for further consideration. It called for 50 per cent of the new homes to be “affordable” and wants the effect on residents to be further investigated.”
